Saint-Émilion, France – Wine, History, and Scenic Beauty in Bordeaux’s Hidden Gem

TzubyCAMPERS France Saint-Émilion, France – Wine, History, and Scenic Beauty in Bordeaux’s Hidden Gem

We knew that Saint-Émilion is a beautiful medieval town in the middle of a superb wine-growing area, but the reality exceeded our expectations. The village boasts Romanesque churches and medieval buildings nestled among rolling vineyards with stunning panoramic views. Cobblestone streets, charming squares, and rustic architecture make Saint-Émilion a true hidden treasure of the Bordeaux region.

We overnighted in two vineyards that are open for campers: Château Arnaud de Jacquemeau, located 30 minutes walking distance from the village and Château Picaron where the owners offered a tour of the cellar and shared with us some of the secrets of wine making in the region. We were impressed by their warm welcome and friendly atmosphere but also by the hard work they are doing to keep the vineyards at such good standards.
